  • Mediation is a confidential process designed to help families in conflict find real, workable solutions without the delays, costs and stress of court. Rather than having a judge impose a decision, mediation puts control back in your hands, allowing you and the other parties to shape outcomes that truly reflect your unique family circumstances.

In family law disputes, whether parenting arrangements, property settlements, or complex high-conflict issues, a skilled mediator guides open, honest conversations that cut through emotion and misunderstanding. The mediator doesn’t decide the outcome but helps all parties communicate effectively, explore options and reach practical agreements that last.

With over 15 years experience in family law and a background as a Judicial Registrar, Dora brings a rare depth of legal insight, cultural competency and empathy to every mediation. Her calm, clear approach helps families move past conflict with respect and clarity, even in the most sensitive or challenging cases.

  • Booking Mediation

Use the scheduling page on this website to book a mediation on a day that is suitable to all parties and their lawyers.

*If you require assistance inviting the other party to mediation, then please contact us to discuss.

The parties will receive a confirmation email which includes a link for each party to access to book their respective pre-mediation conferences which occurs one to two weeks before the mediation. Included in the email will be the mediation agreement and our invoice which is to be returned and settled within 14 days prior to the mediation.

    Preparation

Thoughtful preparation supports focused, productive discussions. Before the mediation, the parties are encouraged to gather relevant documents such as parenting plans, financial records, or court orders, and consider their case. It is strongly recommended that the parties obtain legal advice prior to mediation so that they have a good understanding of the legal framework.

    Pre-Mediation Conferences

Dora meets with each party separately by phone for up to one hour. The lawyers may attend, though this is optional. These confidential sessions allow Dora to understand each party’s case, clarify priorities and address any risks or cultural factors. Dora will carefully consider how to best facilitate a safe environment for a productive mediation.

    Mediation

On mediation day, in person or via Zoom, Dora will facilitate for the parties to negotiate and work through the issues in dispute: with the aim of reaching a resolution. Joint or private (shuttle) sessions may be held depending on the needs of the case.

    Agreement Drafting

If an agreement is reached, it is documented in a heads of agreement which summarises the key terms. Where the parties are self represented, Dora can assist with drafting the heads of agreement however, independent legal advice is always recommended.

For parenting mediations, Dora will issue a Section 60I certificate to each party at no additional cost.

  • Control Over the Process and Outcomes

Mediation allows for the parties to jointly curate their own agreement which best accommodates their unique circumstances.

    Early Resolutions

By settling a matter at mediation, protracted court delays are avoided so the parties can move on with their lives.

    Cost-Effective

Where an early resolution can be reached at mediation, the parties save significantly on the cost of litigation.

    Private and Confidential

The mediation process is completely confidential which fosters open and honest dialogue between the parties.

    Less Stressful

The mediation process is flexible depending on the needs of the parties on the day.

    Legally Informed

Mediation with a mediator who has a family law background brings legal insight without the pressure or unpredictability of litigation.
