Mediations and Parenting Coordination Services in English, Cantonese, Mandarin or Japanese
In addition to English, Dora speaks fluent Chinese - Cantonese and Mandarin and conversational Japanese (JLPT N2 proficiency). She is able to conduct mediations and parenting coordination sessions in any of these four languages to offer greater accessibility to dispute resolution services for culturally and linguistically diverse families.
Supporting Culturally Diverse Parties
Dora has extensive experience working with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, both in practice as a lawyer and during her appointment as a Judicial Registrar of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. She was the first Judicial Registrar of Chinese background appointed to the court. She brings both lived experience and professional insight to cross-cultural family law matters.
Cultural Fluency and Sensitivity
Dora brings a deep understanding of how language, culture and tradition shape family expectations: particularly in relation to parenting, financial contributions and intergenerational obligations. Her ability to navigate these dynamics allows for respectful and inclusive conversations where all parties feel heard and understood.
Working with Interpreters
Where appropriate, Dora is experienced in working with qualified interpreters and can assist in coordinating arrangements to ensure the mediation process is accessible and adapted to the needs of all participants.
